MIRS 2022 Award Information and Qualifications

The Linda Schamber Best Paper Award

Purpose- The purpose of the award is to recognize the overall contribution to the field and the originality/novelty of the work.

Qualifications- Author(s) of the paper must be currently enrolled doctoral students in the College of Information at UNT.

Criteria- Students papers will be judged by an awards committee. The criteria used will be the overall contribution to the field, originality and novelty, and the overall quality of the presentation.

 

MIRS Best Dissertation Lightning Talk Award

MIRS Best Dissertation Lightning Talk Award is styled similar to TED Talks. Each participant will have 10 minutes to present their work with visual aids. This option is open to all PhD students who have taken their qualifying exams but have not yet defended their dissertation. Think of this as a chance to practice the dissertation proposal and/ or defense.

 

The MIRS Best Poster Award

Posters will be judged by an awards committee. The criteria will be the overall contribution to the field, originality and novelty, and the overall quality of the presentation.

Award Eligibility 

  • To be considered eligible for the Linda Schamber Best Paper Award, you must submit your full paper to the MIRS 2022 Final Submission page by March 31, 2022, 11:59pm.
  • To be considered eligible for the MIRS Best Poster Award, you must submit your abstract to the MIRS 2022 Abstract Submission page by March 31, 2022, 11:59pm and upload your poster to Flipgrid before the symposium. Follow-up instructions for uploading will be sent via email. 
  • To be considered eligible for the MIRS Best Dissertation Lightning Talk Award, you must submit your abstract to the MIRS 2022 Abstract Submission page by March 31, 2022, 11:59pm and present your dissertation research at the symposium.
